In fact, non-diving buddies can land on the sandy atoll first and set up the lunchtime feast, swim, snorkel and sunbathe while the ‘real’ work is going on in Neptune’s garden. Diving close inshore is not so good anyway, but at Pungtod Wall on the landward side line up the hut in the sea on the south of Panglao itself and you can drop into a beautiful hard and soft coral garden with a plethora of small fish, including Scorpions and Ribbon eels. Visibility is sometimes up to 30 meters with the depth varying from three to 45 meters but most of the interest is between five and 15 meters. Numerous small caves dot the wall (one quite large at about 45 meters) and the usual exit point of the dive has a sandy bottom with some interesting items to look at as you make your safety stop. | |||||||||||
