| | Chocolate Hills An
experience which must not be missed, the Chocolate Hills are about 1200
hills which are about 30 to 50 m high and covered with grass.
When the grass dries out, it's green colour turns to brown - hence the
name Chocolate Hills. It is not completely understood how this singular
natural landscape developed. According to some geologists, Bohol was
under water during pre-historic times. Originally
deposited during volcanic eruptions, the sea bed was smoothed and
rounded off gradually by the currents of the water, resulting in this
unusual formation. The journey from Alona Beach to the Chocolate Hills can be made with an air-conditioned taxi, a mini bus, or a rented motorcycle.
